The biggest game of the year calls for good company, great food, and laid-back style. We pulled together a few of our favorite game-day picks to make hosting (or showing up) easy.

A Super Snack

Keep it simple with an easy, shareable dip that comes together in minutes and disappears just as fast. Serve it warm with chips or veggies, and you’re set for kickoff.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced thinly, then “chunked” — not diced, just big chunks.
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1, 16 ounce container of sour cream

How to Make It:

  • In a skillet, melt your butter over medium heat.
  • Add your onions in, and caramelize over medium heat. This takes some time — don’t rush it — you don’t want burned onions!
  • After your onions are caramelized, set aside in a large bowl to cool.
  • After about 20 minutes, stir in the carton of sour cream, salt, and pepper.
  • Let this sit. Overnight is best, but if you really can’t wait, give it an hour.
  • Before serving, taste with whatever “vessel” you are using — make sure you’ve added enough salt!

No POG? Mix your own:
• 1 oz passion fruit juice
• ½ oz orange juice
• ½ oz guava juice

How to Make It:
Shake all ingredients with ice until well-chilled. Strain over fresh ice into a salt- or Tajín-rimmed glass. Garnish with a lime wheel or orange slice.
