We like to think of ourselves not only as experts on Aloha Shirts, but as connoisseurs of the Aloha lifestyle as well. We’re excited to share some of our favorite local spots, recipes, playlists and more with you!
WHAT I’M WEARING
As you might expect, my closet is full of Spooners, and some days I have a hard time picking! Lately one shirt has been getting a lot of wear - not sure why but I think just because I love it! I have been getting so many compliments on it (even on Zoom!) we may just re-release it next year!
About this Print
Released in 1995, “Lifeguards” honors Newport Beach lifeguards. Showcasing various beach scenes including lifeguard towers, rescue paddle boards, jeeps and groups of lifeguards, this print thanks the men and women who keep us safe on the beaches and in the water every day.
WHAT I’M DRINKING
This cocktail hits the spot on a warm Southern California evening. It requires a little work, but I say it’s worth it! Courtesy of “Smuggler’s Cove,” the legendary tiki bar in San Francisco, this cocktail was inspired by Trader Vic’s “Peachtree Punch,” created for the opening of Trader Vic’s Atlanta (my hometown) in the 70’s.
Add the peach chunks, orange juice, and lemon juice to drink mixer tin and muddle the peach. Add the remaining ingredients. Fill with 12 ounces of crushed ice and 4 to 6 small “agitator” cubes. Flash blend and double strain into a double old-fashioned glass filled with cracked and cubed ice. Garnish with grated nutmeg and a peach wedge on the rim of the glass.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
I have been spinning tunes since my start as a college DJ back in the day. Today I go by the moniker DJ Tollywood. Lately I have been listening to a lot of modern Hawaiian and reggae tunes. I hope you enjoy this playlist as much I enjoyed creating it!
