The 1980s marked a defining era for our brand—the decade that helped make aloha shirts synonymous with Spooner. Our in-house artists created bold original designs, including iconic prints that remain in rotation today, while shorter collars and button-down silhouettes helped shape a look that became unmistakably our own.

Behind the scenes, we partnered with a small Japanese mill to bring those designs to life through thoughtful craftsmanship, beginning a lasting relationship that continues today. We refined our signature Spooner Kloth™ and expanded beyond aloha shirts into T-shirts, sweatshirts, and swim trunks. From oversized florals to unexpected conversational prints, the creative energyof the '80s lives on in some of the most distinctive designs in our archive.

These one-of-a-kind vintage pieces won’t be around for long. Once they find a new home, they’re gone for good.

Our first release looks back to the formative years when Reyn Spooner was evolving as a brand. Longer 1970s collars, distinctive silhouettes, vintage labels, and period construction details offer a glimpse into the emerging aesthetic of Hawai'i sportswear.

These shirts were crafted using some of the finest fabrics avaialble in Hawai'i, including textiles from renowned designer Alfred Shaheen, whose fabric appeared on what would become our very first Aloha Shirt.
