Origins of a Classic

In 1959, President Eisenhower signed a proclamation admitting Hawai'i into the Union, officially becoming the 50th State in the United States. This print celebrates Hawai'i and our state flower, the pua aloalo (hibiscus). Before being named the official state flower, the pua aloalo was recognized as the emblem of Hawai'i and represented royalty, joy, and respect.

When visiting the islands, you will find this stunning flower blooming with its branches climbing up to 15ft tall, and you’ll often see it tucked behind the ears of local wahines.

This archival pareau design captures the natural simplicity and beauty of the hibiscus and is one of our most beloved heritage prints that has been a classic for decades.
